Hello! I'm Heidi, an eleven-year educator and backyard farmer passionate about learning. I am always researching new ways to engage kids; whether through project-based learning and inquiry or just plain fun!

My love for children comes from being a big kid myself.  I love to play, puzzle, and work on my computer:) I started a career in teaching 12 years ago after spending 10 years managing a Big Box store.  I spent 4 years in fourth, 4 years in fifth, and one year as a digital teacher. Currently, I enjoy first grade. I love project-based learning and teaching kids problem-solving games to implement the skills they learn in the classroom.

I am most proud of my role as Edtech lead educator. Where I enjoy collaborating with others on ways to SAVE TIME.  In our community of great educators, we make planning easier building Google Sites to help organize the learning for teachers and save prep time. Feel free to reach out via Linkedin, Instagram, or Facebook for ideas or to have us create something for you!

A Little Something More Personal

As a kid, I enjoyed visiting my Grandpa's farm in the summer. It was a place where I was always guided and encouraged to explore my independence while investigating the farm. My grandfather was part of a generation where occupation was seasonal. Pecans, cattle, sheep, and minnows were how he made his living; and I never met a happier person more filled with compassion than he.

Now that I am older, I recognize learning doesn't have to be textbook, it needs to be authentic to create the level of engagement that sparks interest. The classroom is a great place for discovery learning and the addition of nature makes it awesome. I am not suggesting you throw out your school's curriculum; but that you incorporate the learned skills into projects to engage kids.

Grandpa taught me, never to put all my eggs in one basket because learning is life.  The classwork should be a journey where enjoyment fuels the passion for learning.

Teaching is a blessing for which I am grateful. Nothing gives me greater satisfaction than learning with children.  Sharing my passion for inquiry with others,  just makes it more fun.
